While doing some work in San Pedro/Terminal Island, I decided to take a chance on some beer I have never had. I was surprised. Read my notes below.
Aroma
Very muted aroma. No real hop or malt aroma. No diacetyl.
Appearance
Light gold with a huge white head that lingers. Nice lacing. Lots of small bubbles.
Flavor
Nice bit of spicy hop flavor that evolves into a definite malt backbone. A touch of diacetyl.
Mouthfeel
Medium body with a slight carbonic bite. Nicely attenuated, but still some
Overall
A surprisingly good Bohemian (Czech) pilsner. Nice malt with just enough bitterness to balance the beer. Went extremely well with the black beans, rice, and medium salsa I ate.
Most American Pilsners I have tried neglect the malt body. This nails it. Could have used a little more diacetyl, but I'm not very sensitive to it, so it may have just been me.
Highly recommended.
