The special mixture of dark and light wheat and barley malt in combination with fine aroma hops characterize a distinctive aroma. In the Antrunk note the power of this malt mixture and a wonderful balance of bread and yeasty notes of their own pure yeast culture. The fermentation in the bottle is responsible for the softness of this beer. Only at the finish, the full body is replaced by a mild bitterness in the interplay with fruity notes and initiates a long finale.

An old Bavarian wheat beer, brewed according to the origin recipe of 1935.

Ingredients (from Mark Gerlach)

34% Dark Wheat

33% Light Wheat

30% Barley malt

3% Carapils

Aroma

Some bready notes, and clove. Honey and floral hop aroma is present as it warms up.

Appearance
Slightly cloudy with visible bubbles rising to the top. Head is white and somewhat small for this style. Head retention is minimal. Dark gold color.
Flavor
Bready and a big clove finish. No fruit in the flavor, but you definitely get some yeasty character at the start. Hints of honey.
Mouthfeel
Medium heavy mouth with some carbonic bite.
Overall
This has some characteristics of a weissbier, but also feels more like a weissenbock. This is an atypical wheat beer. It is made with darker malts, plus the carapils so the body is heavier. Also, the carbonation is good, but head retention is less than a typical helles weissbier. It is made like this.
