Original Altbayreísch Dunkel

Beer Style
ABV
5.00%

From the website:

A traditional Bavarian dark lager, brewed exclusively with dark and roasted malts, without the use of dark beer syrup and light malt. Very light on the palate with a hint of cognac and smoke.

Aroma

Hints of toffee and roasted malt. A tiny bit of Munich malt character.

Appearance
Ruby color and clear. Large head that slowly dissipates. Some carbonation can be seen rising to the top.
Flavor
Nice caramel (munich malt) flavor with a slightly floral hop flavor. Definitely balanced to the malt side. The caramel, with a slight bit of bitterness lingers for several minutes. There is a slightly sweet underlying flavor and some smoke is buried deep within and more noticeable as the beer warms up.
Mouthfeel
Medium mouthfeel with a nice carbonic bite. No diacetyl.
Overall
I love this beer. I'm not always in the mood for dunkel, but I could drink this beer all the time. Not quite on my desert island beer list, but in the top 20 for sure.
