In 1925 the Cervecería Modelo was opened in Mexico City.
In 1928, 8 million bottles of the Modelo and Corona brands were sold.
In 1930 Negra Modelo first went on sale.
In 1933 Grupo Modelo began sporadic exports to the US.
In 1935 Modelo acquired the Compañía Cervecera Toluca y México, where the Victoria and Pilsener brands were brewed.
In 1943 the marketing slogan was “And 20 million Mexicans can´t be wrong.”
In 1954 Modelo acquired Cervecería del Pacífico, in Mazatlán, Sinaloa and Cervecería La Estrella in Guadalajara, Jalisco.
In 1960 Modelo acquired Cervecería Modelo del Noroeste, in Ciudad Obregón, Sonora.
In 1966 Modelo Especial was the first canned beer to enter the Mexican market.
In 1967 the Cervecería Modelo de Torreón brewery was opened.
In 1979 construction began on the Compañía Cervecera del Trópico, in Tuxtepec, Oaxaca, which started operating in 1984.
In 1979 Cebadas y Maltas was founded in Calpulalpan, Tlaxcala.
In 1981 INAMEX de Cerveza y Malta was created in Texcoco, Estado de México.
In 1984 the Compañía Cervecera del Trópico, where León and Montejo brands were brewed, was first opened.
In 1985 the Modelo brands began to be exported to Japan, Australia, New Zeland and other European countries.
In 1986 Corona became the second most popular imported beer brand in the US.
In 1990 Corona was first exported to places such as Hong Kong, Singapore and Greece, as well as countries with a strong beer-drinking tradition such as Holland, Germany and Belgium.
In 1994 Grupo Modelo was first listed in the Mexican Stock Exchange, under the ticker symbol GMODELOC.
In 1997 Compañía Cervecera de Zacatecas the largest brewery in Latin America, began operating.
In 1997 Corona became the number one imported beer in the US.
In 2003 construction on the malting
facility in Idaho Falls began.
In 2005 Grupo Modelo celebrated its 80 anniversary.
In 2006 the joint venture between Grupo Modelo and Constellation Brands was announced.
In 2007 construction began on the eighth Grupo Modelo brewery in Nava, Coahuila.
